How Often Should You Detail Your Vehicle?

One of the most common questions we get is: “How often should I get my vehicle detailed?” The answer depends on several factors.

Recommended Schedule

Full Detail: 2-4 Times Per Year

For most drivers, getting a complete detail (interior and exterior) every 3-4 months is ideal. This keeps your vehicle in excellent condition year-round.

Exterior Detail: Monthly to Quarterly

Your exterior needs more frequent attention, especially in Syracuse with our harsh winters. Consider:

  • Winter (Dec-Mar): Monthly washing minimum, detail every 6-8 weeks
  • Spring (Apr-May): Deep detail to remove winter damage
  • Summer (Jun-Aug): Detail every 2-3 months
  • Fall (Sep-Nov): Pre-winter detail and protection

Interior Detail: 2-3 Times Per Year

Unless you have kids, pets, or eat in your car regularly, interior detailing 2-3 times per year is sufficient.

Factors That Increase Frequency

  • Daily commute in traffic
  • Parking outside vs. garage
  • Children or pets
  • Work truck or commercial use
  • Living near industrial areas
  • Show car or classic vehicle

At 315 Heavy Detail, we can create a custom maintenance schedule based on your specific needs and usage patterns.
